The Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator is responsible for the day to day operations and maintenance of the City wastewater treatment plant and sanitary sewer collection system.
Position is responsible for all aspects of operating and maintaining the wastewater collection system including treatment plant, lift stations, testing, reporting and line maintenance.The Wastewater Operator advises the Public Works Director on wastewater system operating, capital, staff and equipment needs.This position does not directly supervise other staff but will direct the work and training of maintenance workers as they are assigned to the wastewater program.
The Platte City wastewater treatment plant is a two cell sequential batch reactor (SBR) with a current capacity of 1 mgd.Current average daily flow 400,000 gallons.System has four lift stations, two of which were constructed since 2016.Collection system reconstruction is nearly complete with the final clay line segments replaced by plastic or relined by 2023.Plant reconstruction and expansion planned for 2024.
Minimum Requirement: High School Diploma or equivalent required; Missouri Class C treatment license with two years experience required, Class B license preferred;must be qualified to test for Class B license within one year of hire date. Valid driver's license required.Must not have any conditions which would disqualify the applicant from receiving a commercial drivers license.
